About UOS

The new School of Global Studies at the University of Sussex comprises Departments of Anthropology, Geography, and International Relations, and also leads the University’s internationally renowned Development Studies programmes. The School employs 65 social scientists (full professors and associate professors), and hosts around 100 PhD students. The School has particular strengths in the areas of International Development (together with faculty outside the School, plus in the institute for Development Studies, Sussex has the largest concentration of Development Studies expertise in the UK); Migration (the School is home to the Development Research Centre on Migration, Globalisation and Poverty, funded by the UK Department for International Development); Political Economy (especially through the Centre for Global Political Economy), and Violence, Conflict and Security (the Justice and Violence Research Centre brings together Anthropologists and International Relations scholars working on these themes).

UOS´s role in the CLICO project

UOS is studying human security and water in partitioned state contexts, with a primer focus on the case of Sudan, but with participation also in the Jordan Basin and Cyprus case-studies.
